Prof. Jong-Souk (John) Yeo currently serves as President for the Korean Society of Microscopy and Professor in the School of Integrated Technology, College of Computing at Yonsei University.
He established Advanced Characterization Center and served as its Director at Yonsei Institute of Convergence Technology where he also served as Vice Director of Research. For the Yonsei International Campus founded in 2011, he served as Director for Yonsei Science Park Foundation planning for university-led sustainable innovation ecosystem.
After completing B.S. and M.S. in Metallurgical Engineering at Seoul National University, he received Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from Stanford University in 1998. Jong-Souk has held various research positions at Lucent Technologies and Hewlett-Packard leading research and development on optical devices, nanoscale devices, nanowire biosensor, photonic interconnects, and flexible electronics and displays.
Jong-Souk is currently leading a multidisciplinary research group leveraging nanotechnology, materials science, and nanoscale characterization techniques to provide next generation technology solutions in the areas of neuromorphic semiconductor devices, nanoplasmonic sensorics, flexible electronics, nano-bio interface, biomimetics, and 3D printing. His original work has resulted in over 60 patents issued or pending in US, Europe, and Korea and has been published in high impact journals. He received Human Frontier Science Program Grant Award, Sungwon Edward Academic Award from Korean Vacuum Society, Excellent Paper Award of Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology from Korean Information Display Society, and Korean Government Overseas Scholarship.
