Levi is an NSF Graduate Research Fellow at Caltech working with Professor Scott Cushing to image carrier and heat dynamics in photocatalysts using ultrafast electron energy-loss spectroscopy (EELS). He recently received a DOE SCGSR Fellowship with Dr. Thomas Gage at Argonne National Laboratory, developing STEM-EELS methods to image light conversion at timescales spanning femtoseconds to seconds. Levi uses in-situ and ultrafast electron energy-loss spectroscopy (EELS) to image structural and electronic transformations in energy materials. In the Cushing group, he also leverages (1) ab-initio DFT/BSE calculations to model photoexcited dynamics in core-loss EELS and (2) a Liouville-Lanczos approach to linearized TD-DFT to model low-loss plasmon excitations.
