Dr Baron Ping-Luen Ho is an EPSRC-funded Research Associate in the Department of Materials at Imperial College London, working under the supervision of Professor Shelly Conroy and Professor Sandrine Heutz. He earned his DPhil from the University of Oxford under the guidance of Professor Edman Tsang and Professor Peter Nellist, holds an MEng from Tsinghua University and Forschungszentrum Jülich, and completed a double major in Physics and Materials Science at National Tsing Hua University (NTHU). He is also a Fellow of the Royal Microscopical Society (FRMS).
His current research focuses on quantum devices and functional materials, with particular emphasis on multiferroic thin films, atomic interfaces, and the magnetic performance of perovskites, semiconductors, and catalytic frameworks etc. He employs advanced transmission electron microscopy (TEM) techniques, including 4D-STEM, electron energy-loss magnetic chiral dichroism (EMCD), and synchrotron-based characterisation, to investigate these systems. Ping-Leun's personal interest is to study the application of artificial intelligence in engineering technology related to the low-altitude economy.
