Idan Biran is a postdoctoral researcher at the VISION – Center for Visualizing Catalytic Processes at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU).
Idan received his B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering and his M.Sc. in Nanoscience & Nanotechnology from the Technion, Israel. During his Master's, he was first exposed to low-dose transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Idan continued with TEM and 4D-STEM imaging at the Weizmann Institute of Science during his PhD, while studying small organic molecules, polymers, and developing new TEM imaging techniques for dose-sensitive materials. He published in high-impact journals, while winning several prizes and excellence scholarships.
In his postdoctoral work, Idan is dedicated moving to in-situ catalysis studies using environmental TEM, setting up and using an advanced ETEM.
