Mattias Thuvander received his PhD in 1998 on a thesis about atom probe field ion microscopy of grain boundaries in nickel base superalloys, at Chalmers University of Technology. He spent ten years in industry primarily working on welding metallurgy. Since 2009 he is back at Chalmers and is persuing reseach using atom probe tomography, with a focus on nuclear materials (zirconium cladding tubes, stainless steel, reactor pressure vessels and nickel base alloys).
