Gil Bub works on understanding cardiac dynamics, with a focus on imaging and modeling pattern formation
of excitation in the heart. A key part of his research program is to develop new microscopy modalities, analysis
and simulation programs, optogenetic techniques, and ultra-fast sensors. Projects include development of tools
for high-speed volumetric imaging, high-throughput screening tools for cardiac stem cell
research, and real-time control of excitation waves in muscle. These tools are applied to various
experimental models including bio-engineered sheets of myocytes, co-cultures of myocytes and
neurons, and whole hearts.
