Post-Irradiation Examination Research Scientist
Idaho National Laboratory
Idaho Falls, ID, United States
Joshua Rittenhouse has his Ph. D. in Materials Science and Engineering from Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S&T), and also his B. S. in Nuclear Engineering also from Missouri S&T. Joshua currently works at Idaho National Laboratory (INL) as a Post-Irradiation Examination Research Scientist. More specificaly, his role focuses on utilizing electron micrscopes, including scanning electron and transmission electron microscopses, along with their related techniques to examine and characterize a wide variety of irradiated materials including irradiated nuclear fuels. For his Ph. D., Joshua focused on investigating several nanostructured steels and how grain refinement may be an avenue for improving irradiation resistance. Being at INL, Joshua has found and taken many opportunities to learn from many experienced researchers that are also excellent microscopists and greatly expand his knowledge of irradiated materials.
