A scientist who has performed microanalysis using and improved the techniques of APFIM, EDS, EBSD, WDS down to the nanometer scale. Software and hardware improvements along with hardware modelling have been a focus for technique improvement. More than 10 patents on software and hardware have been produced which were and are being used by at least 3 microanalysis companies. Career highlights include providing the first results on the initial composition changes during spinodal decomposition, design and implementation of a reflectrom analyzer for APFIM, contributions to the design of the LEAP prototype, the first atomic reconstruction routines for LEAP data sets, prototyping WDS-SD and >2000 fps CMOS EBSD, and authorizing the production of direct electron EBSD.
