I have been an Assistant Professor at Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden since May 2025. Prior to this, I was a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Biomaterials at the Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces (Germany). I hold a joint PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from McMaster University (Canada) and in Medical Science from the University of Gothenburg (Sweden).
My research focuses on structure-function relationships in bone, specifically investigating the interplay between bone’s architecture and its mechanical and biological performance. This includes both healthy and pathological bone, as well as bone-biomaterial interfaces. By applying and advancing characterization techniques typical of materials science, my work aims to address questions at the intersection of engineering and health. Since bone is a hierarchical material with an architecture spanning several length scales, I often adopt a multiscale and multimodal approach that combines various tools, including but not limited to electron microscopy.
