Dr. Ruthmara Corzo is a research chemist in the Materials Measurement Science Division at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). She earned her PhD in Chemistry from Florida International University in Miami. Dr. Corzo currently serves as a member of NIST’s Organization for Scientific Area Committees (OSAC) in the Trace Materials Subcommittee. Her research focuses on the development and standardization of forensic methodologies for the analysis of trace materials and on the improvement of evidence intrepretation through the use of more objective, probabilistic approaches. She has experience in the elemental characterization of a variety of trace materials, including glass, ink, paper, soil, paint, and polymers using µ-XRF, LA-ICP-MS, LIBS, and SEM-EDS.
