Lynnicia Massenburg earned a Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Microbiology and Molecular Biology at Pennsylvania State University in Prof. Tracy Nixon’s laboratory. Her Ph.D. research focuses on understanding how plant cellulose synthases bind and make cellulose fibers used in biofuel production. She is a 2022 SCGSR awardee in Prof. Hugh O’Neil’s laboratory at ORNL, a 2019 Alfred P. Sloan Scholar, a 2014 National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow and a 2014 honorable mention for the Ford Foundation Fellowship. Lynnicia received a B.S. in Biotechnology (Magna Cum Laude) with a minor in Plant Science from Rutgers University. She then worked in industry as a laboratory assistant in soybean transformation for Pioneer Hi-Bred, a DuPont Company. She returned to academia and received a M.S. in Plant Biology from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
