Liam Collins is a research scientist at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, where he develops advanced atomic force microscopy (AFM) techniques for nanoscale imaging and spectroscopy. His most recent work focuses on automated and autonomous AFM, time and frequency resolved electrochemical and dielectric measurements, electromechanical properties as well as the integration of machine learning for intelligent data acquisition. Liam leads projects aimed at probing complex interfaces in energy materials, soft matter, and biological systems, and has played a key role in expanding AFM capabilities for high-throughput and in-liquid environments.
