Alex Pattison completed his PhD in 2021 with Wolfgang Theis at the University of Birmingham, UK, where he examined the application of automation and machine learning to scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM). He is now continuing this work as a postdoctoral researcher with Peter Ercius at NCEM, LBNL, developing methods of automating 4D-STEM data acquisition as well as low-level tasks like aberration correction.
